Our Little Over-Achiever

Wesley had his 2 month check-up with the doctor today.  He's growing fast, weighing 13 pounds 1 ounce putting him in the 75th percentile.  What a big boy!  (He'd be off the charts in weight if we went by his gestational age of 5 weeks - eek!)  It's amazing he can weigh that much considering how much he spits up and poos.  I was griping the other day that he had two skid-marks, one small poo, and one blow-out all before noon -- to which my sister-in-law, Jenny, replied that Wesley is quite the over-achiever!  She's so right!  Not only does he over-achieve in the BM category, but he's also impressed us with how well he raises and turns his head and keeps his shoulders up during tummy time; how he uses his legs to "stand" for a few seconds while we're holding him every  now and then; and when he's really motivated, he can roll from his back to his side.  He also is a back scoocher - meaning when we put him down on his play mat with his head pointing north, he ends up with his head pointing west in no time.  Already he's much more mobile than his sister ever was.  And guess what else Wesley has achieved?  The smile!  Granted, he's still Worrisome Wes so the smiles are fleeting and minimal, but he's so darn cute when he does decide to flash his gums.  Unless, of course, he's flashing them during his one his tantrums.  This boy can cry and scream and wail forever.  It's a common thing now that happens at least once each day where there is NOTHING we can do to calm him down as he cries at the top of his lungs for anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours.  Thankfully this usually only occurs at home so we don't have to deal with disapproving glares from the public.  When he's not crying or grunting, Wes gives us the most precious coos you've ever heard.  The doctor was very pleased with his progress, and she even said I'm doing a good job and I'm one of her favorite moms.  That's nice to hear, but I'm sure I'll continue to second-guess myself on everything.
Here are some pictures of our little man during his happier moments....

(Oh, and side note.... I think I finally have figured out how to fix this blog so that anyone can write a comment if you want to, regardless of whether or not you have your own profile.  I know some of you have brought up in the past that it was an issue, but hopefully it's resolved now).  :)

Easter Fun

Happy Easter to all!  We had a good time celebrating the holiday weekend, despite having our hands full with a cranky newborn.  Adalynn took part in a few Easter egg hunts, spent time with the Easter bunny, and decorated eggs.  At least she was a happy camper.  Wesley, on the other hand, has turned into a grumpy-gus.   He no longer just sleeps and eats.  Now when he's awake, he gets bored rather quickly and gets extremely ticked off if he's not eating.  Unfortunately, he's still not interested in rattles or other baby toys so there isn't much we can do to combat the boredom other than move him around to change his scenery.  The guy has more seating options than we do between the bouncer seat, pak-n-play, newborn pillow, boppy, and the swing yet he doesn't care to be put down for long.  He has decided that the little aquarium mat isn't too terrible, so we can keep him occupied with that for about 10 minutes.  We're not sure if he's just in a crotchety old man stage or if his actions are simply a result of still being under the weather.   I just hope it doesn't stay this way.  For some crazy reason, I thought he would be more laid-back than his sister was as an infant.  What was I thinking?  Anyway, he further frustrated Mommy when he decided to go through a growth spurt on Easter Eve, resulting in an adorable Easter suit gone terribly wrong.  It was all we could do to barely squeeze him into the thing.  I had intended for him to wear the suit for Easter, his infant dedication at church, and an upcoming wedding; but that is no longer the case for the latter two events.  Oh well, I'm glad he's healthy.  Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend!  Here's a sneak peak at our festivities......
Not sure why my sister thinks the Easter Bunny is so great.  I, personally, find this oversized rabbit to be a bit shady.

Adalynn decorated Easter eggs for the first time.  (Because Mommy was finally successful in making hardboiled eggs for the first time).

Big sis taking time out to pose from her Easter Egg hunt.

I love to play dress-up.  Today I'm dressed as a door-to-door 40 year old salesman who is down on his luck and hasn't bought a new suit since he was 25.  Mom is trying to pawn this off as my Easter outfit.  Good luck with that, Ma!  My story is much more believable.

Everyone keeps gushing about how cute Adalynn is in her Easter dresses every year.  Maybe I'll step it up a notch and actually fit in my outfit next Easter.

Here's a blast from Easter past.  This is one of my favorite photos of all time so I thought it would be fun to share it again.  Here's Adalynn on her first Easter............
