Our Little Over-Achiever

Wesley had his 2 month check-up with the doctor today.  He's growing fast, weighing 13 pounds 1 ounce putting him in the 75th percentile.  What a big boy!  (He'd be off the charts in weight if we went by his gestational age of 5 weeks - eek!)  It's amazing he can weigh that much considering how much he spits up and poos.  I was griping the other day that he had two skid-marks, one small poo, and one blow-out all before noon -- to which my sister-in-law, Jenny, replied that Wesley is quite the over-achiever!  She's so right!  Not only does he over-achieve in the BM category, but he's also impressed us with how well he raises and turns his head and keeps his shoulders up during tummy time; how he uses his legs to "stand" for a few seconds while we're holding him every  now and then; and when he's really motivated, he can roll from his back to his side.  He also is a back scoocher - meaning when we put him down on his play mat with his head pointing north, he ends up with his head pointing west in no time.  Already he's much more mobile than his sister ever was.  And guess what else Wesley has achieved?  The smile!  Granted, he's still Worrisome Wes so the smiles are fleeting and minimal, but he's so darn cute when he does decide to flash his gums.  Unless, of course, he's flashing them during his one his tantrums.  This boy can cry and scream and wail forever.  It's a common thing now that happens at least once each day where there is NOTHING we can do to calm him down as he cries at the top of his lungs for anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours.  Thankfully this usually only occurs at home so we don't have to deal with disapproving glares from the public.  When he's not crying or grunting, Wes gives us the most precious coos you've ever heard.  The doctor was very pleased with his progress, and she even said I'm doing a good job and I'm one of her favorite moms.  That's nice to hear, but I'm sure I'll continue to second-guess myself on everything.
Here are some pictures of our little man during his happier moments....

(Oh, and side note.... I think I finally have figured out how to fix this blog so that anyone can write a comment if you want to, regardless of whether or not you have your own profile.  I know some of you have brought up in the past that it was an issue, but hopefully it's resolved now).  :)
