Happy 1st Birthday, Wesley!

I think Wesley's first year flew by even quicker than Adalynn's first year, and I wasn't sure that was possible.   It's bittersweet because on one hand, I am soooo anxious for the days of arranging everything around a nap schedule, lugging around a heavy diaper bag, and sleepless nights to be over.  On the other hand,  I love the cute, chunky, fun, cuddly baby stage and I cry every time I get rid of another baby item knowing it will never get used again - at least not by our family.   I admit I went through a period of wanting baby #3, but I also know it's best not to push our luck considering how our pregnancies and deliveries go.  Besides that, God has already blessed us with a  beautiful and healthy girl AND boy - they only come one of two ways so it's not like there is a different model we haven't tried yet!  So we are an official family of four, and that is the way it will stay.

I think Wesley had a pretty good time at his birthday party.  He spent the first part of it walking around from table to table, from room to room, and from person to person just showing off his new skills.  He would get mad if we got in his way or tried to veer him off in a different direction, but other than that wandering around suits him just fine.  He has gone from Worrisome Wes (refer to entry from 2/28/12 if you don't remember that little guy) to Wandering Wes.  Eddie and I were remembering that when Adalynn first started walking, she had a purpose - she would walk from point A to point B.  Wesley is definitely a wanderer - there is no direction, no purpose, no destination.  it's quite cute to watch him veer off to one room and just as you're ready to go in after him, he comes back out, walks right past you and off into another room.  Anyway, after the walking he spent most of the rest of the night in a high chair and behaved himself surprisingly well.  Adalynn helped him open up all of his presents, and he enjoyed his first cake (although I'm pretty sure he thought the frosting was finger paint).  Mommy messed up and got the chocolate cake with blue trim thinking it matched his decor and not thinking about the fact that blue dye takes forever to come out!  Pictures of the festivities are below - but our camera is screwed up and everything is yellow in the pictures.  :(  We also have some good video of him smashing his cake, but I can't figure out how to get them uploaded to the site so the yellow pictures will have to do.
This is the last entry on this blog now that Wesley's first year is over.  It's time for us to move on (literally) and work on new projects.  Wish us luck!
Which soft and cuddly munchkin is Wesley?
We call this his Captain Morgan pose

Wesley survived his first haircut by munching on Puffs the entire time

Doesn't he look like a little man?!

I made the #1 cake and the cupcakes but purchased Wesley's smash cake

Trying cake for the first time
Lovely, isn't it?
Is it just me or is Wesley's head bigger than Adalynn's?
Having fun being one and doggone cute
