Bathrooms!

We have two full baths in this house.  We wanted a master bathroom but didn't get it so we are using the main floor bath as our master.  This way, we don't run the risk of waking up the kids when we get ready in the morning.

Main Bathroom

BEFORE

The main bath was painted blue with cream and blue floors, white trim, and a white sink base with a cream sink top.  I really liked the sink top but thought it clashed with the sink base (the top has flicks of gray in it).  The blue wasn't bad, but I just don't own anything blue and wanted to keep the black/gray/white theme I had at the old house so I didn't have to buy all new towels and such.  Thankfully the stool, faucet, light fixtures and tub are all in good shape and didn't need updating.

We painted the walls gray, although sometimes they look more blue or purple depending on the lighting.  I painted the sink base black to match the sink top better and we put in new hardware.  We have new floors (which are actually in the kitchen and dining room as well - we had to find something that would match all the rooms since they all flowed together).  We also put up the wainscoting.

Now that I'm looking at the pictures, it reminds me that Eddie has also replaced all the doorknobs throughout the house from brass to brushed nickel.  We're in the process of doing the same with the hall lights (from brass to brushed nickel).

Upstairs Bathroom (Kids Bathroom)
BEFORE

The upstairs bathroom was just a big blob of tan - tan walls, tan sink, tan sink base, and tan floors.  It desperately needed color.  Like the main bath, we had good bones with the updated stool, tub and fixtures so we didn't need to worry about replacing those.

Again, the lighting isn't great in these pictures but the walls are actually a bright green.  I wanted something gender neutral that both kids would like so we went with an owl theme.  We kept the floors as is, but I also painted the sink base white and used the hardware that was originally in the main bath and moved it to this sink base instead.  Since these photos were taken, a couple more owl things have been added.

The 'before' photos all show the old intercom boxes - the ones you see here in the bathrooms were small.  The intercom boxes in the rest of the house were rather large - such an eyesore!  All have been removed and plastered over.

  1. Very nice! I'm so glad you are feeling settled! Are you excited to decorate for the Holidays, or have you not even come close to thinking about it? I can't wait to see your home in person, soon! :)
